Who is responsible
Street Paws is operated by Pao, an individual, contactable at phstraydogs@gmail.com. That address handles all privacy questions and requests described below.
This app is a free community tool for reporting and caring for stray dogs in the Philippines. There is no advertising, and your data is never sold.
What we collect, and why
Information you give us

Email address and password — to create your account. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider and are never visible to us.

First and last name — shown on your public profile and on your posts.
- Profile photo (optional) — shown publicly.
- Phone number, email and Facebook link (all optional) — hidden by default; each has its own toggle in Settings.
Information created by using the app

Photographs of dogs, of food and water you provide, of injuries, of documents such as vet receipts, and of vehicles involved in accidents.

Location at the moment you report, feed, or update a dog. Photos and GPS are required as proof because a report without them cannot be trusted.

Comments and reports you write.
- Activity history — what you fed, reported, rescued or changed. This is a permanent audit trail: it is what stops false claims about animals.
Information about your device
- Approximate last-known location, refreshed when you open the app, used to send you alerts about nearby emergencies. You can turn these alerts off in Settings.
Location sharing — please read this part
When you respond to a rescue, your live location is shared with other users. The app asks you every time, and you cannot respond without agreeing, because other people need to see that help is genuinely on the way.
While you are responding:
- your position updates roughly every 30 seconds while the app is open;
- people involved in that rescue see your exact position;
- everyone else sees only your rough area, about one kilometre;

it stops when you press "Stop responding", when you end it from "Rescues I am joining" in your profile, or automatically after 45 minutes of inactivity;

a moderator can also end it, and you are notified if they do.
Moderators and administrators can see your location history. This exists to detect fake reports — someone claiming to feed a dog in two places at once. Every such view is written to an audit log. Ordinary users can never see it.
Information about people who are not users
If you report a dog hit by a vehicle, you may record the vehicle's type, colour, make and model — for example "blue Toyota SUV".
We do not ask for licence plates. A misremembered plate is an accusation against someone who did nothing, so the app does not collect them at all. A general description still helps a witness or the police without identifying one specific person.
The description is still information about someone else's property, so it is treated carefully:

It is never shown publicly. Only moderators and verified rescuers can see it. Photographs, location and the dog's injuries are public; vehicle details are not.

The reporter's name is also hidden from the public, so that naming a vehicle cannot expose the person who reported it.

It is deleted automatically 90 days after the case is no longer active. The report, its photos and the description of the dog's injuries remain — only the vehicle description is removed.

You can withdraw it at any time, immediately, from the report.
If you believe a vehicle description was recorded about you in error, contact phstraydogs@gmail.com and it will be removed.
Cruelty reports
If you report animal cruelty, your name is hidden from the public. Only moderators, administrators and verified rescuers can see who filed the report. Photographs and the location are public, because those are what get help moving. Names of people commenting on cruelty cases are also hidden by default.
Who else sees your data

Other users see your name, profile photo, posts, comments and activity, plus anything you chose to make public in Settings.

Moderators and administrators additionally see cruelty and emergency reporter identities, vehicle details, and location history — for moderation only.

Supabase, our hosting and database provider, stores the data on our behalf.
- Nobody else. We do not sell data, and we do not run advertising.
Some map features use OpenStreetMap and Google Maps. Opening directions leaves the app and is then governed by that provider's own policy.
How long we keep things

Deleting your account
Settings → Delete account. This removes your profile, your contact details, your photo, and disconnects you from your posts.
What survives, and why: records of dogs — that they were fed, reported or rescued — remain, with your name removed. If those records vanished, a dog's history would be rewritten every time someone left, and the audit trail is the only protection animals have against false claims. Nothing that identifies you remains attached to them.
Your rights
Under the Philippines Data Privacy Act of 2012 (RA 10173) you may ask to access, correct, or delete your personal information, object to how it is processed, or complain to the National Privacy Commission.

Children
This app is not intended for children under 13. It contains photographs of injured and mistreated animals which some people will find distressing.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we will say so in the app before the change takes effect.
